Core BJJ Bascis | The Cheat Code to Self Defense
Most people—around 99%—don’t train in Jiu-Jitsu. When faced with a physical threat, they rely on instincts that are often wrong, leaving them vulnerable. This is where Jiu-Jitsu changes everything.
Our beginner program is designed to prepare you for the unpredictable. You’ll learn how to handle common reactions, anticipate moves, give you the skills the capitalize on those mistakes even when facing a much bigger stronger / more athletic attacker.

Why start With the Jiu-Jitsu Basics
We don’t throw you into advanced techniques right away. Instead, we focus on building your conditioning movement and reactions the scenarios you’re most likely to face. The average person isn’t a black belt—they’re relying on instinct. Jiu-Jitsu equips you to counter those instinctive moves effectively and confidently.
From day one, you’ll learn smarter strategies, mastering control and avoiding costly errors. Whether you’re here for self-defense, fitness, or the path to a black belt, our beginners bjj headstart program lays the foundation for everything.
carla blake morning classes Monday Wednesday Friday @ noon bjj classes are great and the team exactly what we wanted Christopher Ahn My son and I had a great experience visiting this gym from out of town to keep up with our BJJ training. The level of instruction was top-notch from Claude (adults) and Rick (kids), providing valuable insights for both beginners and more experienced practitioners, with instructors paying close attention to each student. What stood out was the strong sense of community – everyone was friendly and welcoming during the classes and open mat. Quality of rolls was good, and I got the opportunity to chat with the both of the instructors and learn more about the gym's philosophy. Overall, a fantastic experience, and definitely plan to visit again if I find myself in the area again. Highly recommend this gym for anyone interested in BJJ! Juan Valencia I'm so glad to be a part of this family.. Lau James Awesome coaches with practical experience! I signed up with my son and both are happy with people here. Great vibes and training with respect. Highly recommend. Jesse Reitberger I was in the GTA for the weekend and wanted to get some training in. The instructor was great and really friendly. The gym had a really friendly vibe to it. I'll definitely go back next time I'm in town. kat t We’ve only been to a few classes but I’m quite impressed with coach Rick. He has a way with kids, the class is well organized, he provides clear instruction, keeps kids focused, talks about having good values and hard work. The gym is clean and well equipped. Natsuko T I can't speak hardly enough about the Mississauga BJJ program we tried at core bjj club. We heard about the martial arts Academy from some family friends that also had kids in the beginner program so decided to so decided to come by input our daughter in the class while visiting the city for the week. BJ has always been something we were interested in getting her active I didn't get in as it teaches so many good self defence and personal skill development tools. The classes at this martial arts Academy did not disappoint. We are looking to move to the city in the summer and will certainly be joining the Mississauga BJJ club Jnet W Coach Rick has provided an incredible introduction to jiu-jitsu for our daughter. When she started, she was 4 yrs old. Now, she's 6 and has confidence, a positive attitude towards training and a love of martial arts. Thank you doesn't cut it. We are big fans!
